Sadie the Dream Dancer

My final MA project, in which I illustrated an imagined dream space for my character Sadie Herman. The project was an intuitive process which lead to forming a visual dialouge of symbols, which interacted with eachother to form meanings. I was mainly dealing with issues of sexual trauma, corperate consumer culture, shame, femininity and the restrictions and expanses of Sadie’s imagination. I made a book with these illustrations and wrote an accompinying text, which was formed of her diary entries. I referenced the classic John Tenniel Alice in Wonderland illustrations and placed my character in place of Alice, as comment on plasticised femininity.  See photos of the book : here
